Re: How wide can I go
Depends on which axle housing is under the truck now. Do you know if it's the original 67-68 housing, or has it been converted to 5 lug somewhere along the way? If someone has put a later 71-72 housing in it to convert to 5 lug, you may have the later, longer housing in it. In which case my specs below will not work. I can explain to you how to tell which one you have, if you dont know.
When you say 4.75 - 5" offset, do you mean backspacing ? Ex from the mounting surface of the wheel to the wheel bead on the back side, you have 5" ? This is my 68, narrow 67-68 housing. 20x10, 5" backspacing. 295/45/20. 7" static drop. *** Oh, sorry, just re-read your post. I see it's a stepside. I also built this truck as a stepside at first. Pics and specs for the tires and wheels are in my build thread. I believe I used a 20x9, 5" backspacing and a 255/45/20. 29.03" tall. You could always do 40 series I guess. There's just not a lot of room under a stepper fender. I like them, you just cant get a lot of tire under it.
