Que? Were you using Benjamins as oil absorber? How'd you spend $10K after the connect and cruise package?

I needed mounts and a pain and a steam tube. I reused my old radiator and clutch. My only unexpected expense was a thicker truck flywheel so that I could reuse that clutch, but there weren't many other surprised that I can recall.

Maybe I'm just having selective recall but I thought it was pretty complete!

Whats the other $5k-$10k for? i already have a 383 stroker with 700r4 so aside from maybe an oil pan or some pulleys i was not expecting there to be much more.

Fuel pump, fuel line, fittings and fasteners
Front drive mounts, belts , ac, powersteering, alt
New ac lines and charge system
Rad and hoses, probably electric fans
air intake tube, maf sensor mount, couplers and filter
engine mounts, trans mounts, tail shaft ,drive shaft ujoints
Maybe a oil pan
Exhaust
Starter & battery cables
Bunch of **** to hook up gauges.
Tach and speedo sensors and connection and calibrations.
Probably a high hump.
Transmission linkage.
Gas pedal mount
Possibly a tune if you mess with headers and a different size intake tube
Heat exchanger and all the plumbing if you purchase a supercharged package

...and thats just off the top of my head. I 'm probably missing a bunch of stuff.
The small stuff costs just as much as the big stuff if you keep track of your costs.

Trackman has a good list of stuff to consider above - I don't think it'll run you to $10K (mine sure didn't) but there is a lot to think about. Easy to overlook a lot of it!

Most of these things have a cheap and an expensive solution. Like the front accessory drive... I dropped $2500 on a Concept One setup but you can grab a truck setup at the wrecker for $50. So in that sense there are budget friendly choices.

Similarly I reused my existing rad, and since it had electric fans anyway, I was ready to go there. I already had a big electric pump so just needed an EFI regulator.

Oil pan is unavoidable, no cheap solution I know of there.

Most of the rest was fab work (pedal mount, intake tubes, steam vents, etc) that took time but not money.

good feedback, thanks guys. i will be reusing my radiator and dual fans as well. much of everything else i will fab myself. only expense i may splurge on is a new set of gauges but i have been wanting to do that long before the LS3 idea came into my head.
