...are my wheels too far in?
Hi,
Could somebody please tell me roughly what the correct measurement is for the distance that the original standard 15" rim sits inside the front guard? ie from the outside of the wheel arch to the outside of the steel rim.. I had 15" rally wheels - and wanted to change back to the originals so got some from a dismantlers - however when I put them on they look WAY to far in like they've got a much different offset..? |

Back spacing might be different and your rally's might be wider.

Re: ...are my wheels too far in?
Original 1965 15" diameter wheels were 5.5" wide with 3.75" backspacing.

Re: ...are my wheels too far in?
Thanks for that, yes I just checked, these ones are 15" diameter, 5.5" wide, and with a backspace of 3.75"
Maybe they're sitting correctly, and I'm just used to seeing the wider rally's.. I thought perhaps the hubs may have been changed at some point! I would be interested to know if someone could give me their measurement as in the photo though.. Thanks, |

Re: ...are my wheels too far in?
The wheel will move up and out as you get the truck on the ground. The tire will also fill a good bit of the gap. It will be fine.

Re: ...are my wheels too far in?
You're right, thanks for that Jimmy. It was the back wheels where I first noticed it though which wont shift out - but possibly because I didn't have tyres on and I'm used to seeing the other wheels.

Re: ...are my wheels too far in?
I reckon you're just used to the wider wheels. Originals do tuck in further like that.
You did well to get a set of original wheels in NZ! Cam |

Re: ...are my wheels too far in?
I couldn't find them in NZ... got them shipped in from a wreckers in the US.. probably the most expensive 15" steelies in NZ now! 😣
But it's the style I like so will be worth it... I hope! |

Re: ...are my wheels too far in?
The original wheels are tucked in pretty far. Even with a little bit of width added from the disc brake kit, I spaced my front wheels out 1.5" to fill out the fender opening better.
