I have a 68, with stock regular gauges, but the bezel isn't in good shape. I bought a bezel from a 72 without realizing they were different! I can move the choke to under the dash, but is it possible to move the windshield wiper controls to the other side to use it? thanks!

If you look at the back of the Bezel the area may be molded just not drilled out you may be able to ,I have done this in the past with good results, for me it was PIA to move the wiper switch, so I drilled

You can mount your Choke on the right. There is a provision for a control there. The '72 bezel should have 4 mounds of raised plastic. Two for Lights and Wipers are already drilled. 1/2'' holes, IIRC. If your '72 bezel is a repop and has no raised mounds, mix a small blob of JB-Weld and put it in the right place, smoothe it down to about 1/8th'' thick -- let it cure 24 hours and then drill.
As Jrainman says, drill thru the plastic and make a new hole for the Wipers on the left.
I mounted a Manual Choke in the lower RH position on my '71 GMC because I don't like automatic chokes. It's below the Wiper switch in that model year. [I have thought of swapping the 2-spoke '71 wheel with a 3-spoke '68 wheel, and moving the wiper switch over to the left, above the Light switch, and having the Choke above a Manual Throttle knob onthe right, as per 1968 MY. Moving the Wipers over would require an 18'' -long splice.]
To be period-correct, you'd want to lower the Lights switch to the lower hole on the left. I you care. If only you drive that truck, then who cares, as long as you know what switch you're grabbing in a panic.

Sell the 72 bezel and get a 68.

I didn't want to do that because then they would be mislabeled. I would know what controls are what, but if someone else drives my truck I don't want them to yank the choke all the way because they think it's the wipers!

You could grind off the labels from the '72 bezel, and cut out the labels from the trashed '68 bezel and mount them with epoxy in the appropriate places, then paint over with flat black, since you want the traditional switch/knob lay out.
If using the later style and leaving the Wipers on the right, you could drill a hole under the Wiper switch where the Manual Choke normally goes on a '71-'72.
Moving the Wiper switch from left to right requires that long add-in splice.
