I'm changing from an automatic to a 4 speed in a 69 K20. I have a Z bar for the clutch linkage, but it doesn't work with the parts that I got from LMC and it doesn't look like the one in the LMC picture. The one I have is 7 1/4 inches long, has a straight tube with about 1 inch internal diameter. Could someone tell me if this is how it should be ? It would be good to check that first, before I start looking for another one. Thanks

there are two different types. I know the 68 is different from the 72 I have. Sorry I can't help out anymore......

I had to try a couple of them before I found the one that fit perfect.

One end goes in the tab on the frame, the other end can mount a couple different ways to the block. Do you have the piece that bolts to the block? I wish I had a dig cam so I could show you the spare one I have. It's about 7-1/4" long while the one installed is just over 6".

I just did this -- I put an automatic transmission engine in my manual Blazer. The threaded hole that I needed on the block right below the dipstick was there, but to my dismay I found that the blocks weren't identical in that area and it caused me problems with my Z bar as well. I ended up solving the problem by having the flange at the block end of the ball stud turned down by about 1/4" in radius.

I got that ball stud from LMC, btw. It was identical to the one that I took out. Vehicle is a 71.

Thanks for the replies. I would be very glad to see the pictures. I think that the bar that I need is the shorter of the two.
The motor is a crate one. It is supposed to be good up to 1984, but the description said nothing about manual or automatic.

L6 and V8 Z/bars are different. The L6 one has a shorter crossshaft, I think.
