Painting engine?
I am thinking about painting my engine the body color of my truck. Has anybody here done this? If so....what is the best procedure? Paint....then clear coat?? Thanks for your reponds.

Ask the paint guy that will be mixing it for you. I think you want to add some hardener or something. Of course, prepping the surface is the most important part of any paint job.

I have had good luck spraying acrylic enamel with hardner in it. Biggest thing, make sure everything is clean. I have noticed some discoloring around exhaust ports, and around the crossover under the carb.

You have to have the paint mixed and shoot it with an automotive paint gun. Any good paint guy can mix it up to where it will work well on an engine. |

Back in the day I used to warm the engine after the paint dried until you had an obvious paint smell. Then let the engine cool. Did this a few times to bake the paint on. These days I think they powder coat?
