Shorty Console

I have searched the forum and read most of the posts about consoles but most are seat mounted. I have a bench and there are several really good looking consoles hand built. There is a guy out of Florida that sells a fiberglass base but really don't want to spend a 190.00 for a rough base. Any ideas. Really surprised no one has started making something for these trucks that is turn key. Guess if I wanted to start a new business it would be a good one. LOL TIA

Re: Shorty Console

Here is a console I made for my bench seat. I know there are a few other people that have done the same. I started with a aftermarket console for a bucket seat 1971 c10. Cut it down to match the bench contour, wrapped it in black vinyl and made aluminum stainless cup holder.

That is sweet man! What console did you start with?

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Shorty Console

I started with one of the aftermarket console. I cut the plastic cup holders from the console and made a aluminum plate to mount a couple of stainless cup holders in. If I had to do it over I would buy a used Factory console.

Re: Shorty Console

the original console that you started with strongly resembles the jc whitney version for the 88-94 C/K series bucket console that came in my 94 K5 Blazer. i'd post a pic but i'm not nearby at the moment. I may have to copy your stainless cup holder design tho cuz the ones in mine are a 2 step share inside pocket part and they don't fit my coffee cup.
