GMC Headlight Upgrade
I just purchased some headlight upgrades to the 67 GMC and couldn’t be more impressed. The headlight is glass and not cheap plastic. The bulbs really lit up my view. Overall, the update didn’t make the GMC look too modern or cheesy. It blended in nice with the grill and kept the overall old look. Here is what I ordered on Amazon
Nokya H5006 $89.95 pair Lasfit 9007/HB5 6000k $36.99 pair **couldnt post photos because I was missing a security token...huh***

Re: GMC Headlight Upgrade
Did you buy two pairs of each? I'm curious to see how it looks/works with the GMC headlights/highbeams...

Yes, bought two pairs. Best part was plug and play.

Re: GMC Headlight Upgrade
Excellent! I love the way they still look like the original. Do the high beams work as high beams or are they just extra headlights with this setup?

Works with the factory high beam floor switch.

Re: GMC Headlight Upgrade
Sorry I'm asking so many questions...
I noticed that the bulb model for high beams is H5006 and low beams is H5001 (or maybe the other way around). I don't know if there's any real difference, but do the LED lights you installed in place of your high beams still work as well as or better than they did when you had your old high beams on?

Re: GMC Headlight Upgrade
When I get home, I’ll tell you which bulb is which and take a picture of the lights aimed down the street. That way you can see the difference between low and high beam and how much of the street gets lit up. To put things into perspective, the 67 is bagged and I still had several people flash their high beams at me thinking I had my high beams on. But I only had the low beams on.
When you’re asking your question, I think you’re looking at the factory bulb and comparing it to this set up. That’s apples to oranges. The factory is a headlamp and bulb as one. This set up is a separate headlamp and bulb, so two pieces. Think of this set up like a new car where you replace just the bulb and not the headlamp...aka housing. Does that make sense???

Re: GMC Headlight Upgrade
So I usually don't do aftermarket headlights but these are cool so you have to buy 4 of the sealed headlight bulbs and then buy 4 of just the led headlamp bulbs to use in the new sealed beam or am I totally missing what you have to buy here sorry in advance if that's the case.thanls

Re: GMC Headlight Upgrade
Since these are sold in pairs, you would do a purchase with a quantity of 2. This is for both the headlights and bulbs.
89.95 x 2 = $179.90 36.99 x 2 = $73.98 Total = $253.88

Re: GMC Headlight Upgrade
Keep in mind that these are LED bulbs. If you want a different kind of bulb, you have choices. Just look at the 9007 series bulbs.

Re: GMC Headlight Upgrade
Ok I was pretty sure that's what you did but wanted to be sure before buying wrong stuff thank you for your help they look great. It looked like in the Amazon picture like the light housing is the part that comes with the pig tail plug and play wire is that correct.

Re: GMC Headlight Upgrade
When you look at this picture, you can see the factory harness clip. The red/black/white harness comes with the housing (headlamp). The blue stainless piece comes with the bulb.

Re: GMC Headlight Upgrade
I tried another set of plug and play LED lamps last year but they just didn't fit the buckets. Very cool to see another option, thanks for posting!

Re: GMC Headlight Upgrade
Looks really good compared to the dull yellow. For the bulbs, you suggest a Hi/Low bulb, but wouldn't you just need a pair of low beam and a pair of hi for the GMC?
I'm seriously considering this as the my next upgrade.

So on low beam, just the two outer lamps light up. On high beam, are four are illuminated.

Re: GMC Headlight Upgrade
The LED bulbs are hi/lo in one bulb. So I have 4 identical bulbs. The way the bulbs are designed, there are two led strips. One strip is for lo and one is for hi. Even though both strips are flat on the surface, the hi beam strip projects the light at a higher angle than the lo beam.
When hi beam is on, yes all 4 lights are on. You can manipulate the wiring to have the outer bulbs off on hi beam. On my 1997 Chevy Silverado, the outer lamp is on for lo beam. When I switch to hi beam, the outer lamps go off. That’s how Chevy designed it.

Re: GMC Headlight Upgrade
Stock is separate wires for high/low beams on a GMC. Low beams on the outside and high on the inside. When you hit your floor switch, it just provides additional power to the inner set.
So I'll try to phrase this more clearly. If your stock system has only 1 circuit for the outer lights, and one for the inner bulbs, why use a dual filament (or dual LED strip) bulb? When you turn you highbeams on, it doesn't add power to a 3rd wire on the outer bulbs, like a Chevy. It only gives power to the inner lights. So I could certainly see this working as expected (power the outer low beam LED with lights ON. Power the high beam LED on the inner bulbs when highbeam switch is on), but I don't see why a dual H/L bulb is needed. ...unless you want to have all 4 LED strips active with high beams, you could wire it up that way. I'm probably overthinking this
