Fuller FS4005/NV4500 Trans Question
Looking into picking up a box truck and ran into this. I am looking at an 88 C6000 (old U-Haul) and a 96 c3500. Might end up with both.....anyway, the 88 is a 366/fuller and the 3500 is a 454/NV. From what I can find, the max torque ratings are 420 for the fuller and 460 for the New Venture. Hard to believe that the NV4500 is really a heavier duty transmission than the Eaton Fuller. My numbers for the Fuller came right from Eatons web site and I found the same rating for the NV in a couple different places. Not too many people crying about their Fuller transmissions breaking, the NV4500, on the other hand.........

Re: Fuller FS4005/NV4500 Trans Question
I will say the heaviest truck that the nv4500 was used in had a gvw of 15000. I don't know the excact number, but I am going to assume the fuller transmission was used in trucks that can weight at least double that.

Re: Fuller FS4005/NV4500 Trans Question
I love the NV 4500, as long as its in no bigger truck than a 5.9 dodge. I've never really seen a NV in a bigger truck, most bigger trucks use different size FS trans. I just put a near new FS 6305 in my FL 70 Freightliner with a 5.9 Cummins. Theres no way a 4500 can take the abuse that the FS can take, I didn't have a 4500 handy to take pictures side by side but heres my 6305. The 6305 was behind this 371 Detroit turning a big triplex pump.
