Question Few Questions?

What is the wheel base of a short bed truck from 73-87?
Did they have one-piece drive shafts?
What is the length of the driveshaft from center to center of the U-joint?
If it has a TH350, what length tailshaft do you have? 6" or 9"?

Wheelbase for a Short Bed is 117.5"
All Short beds use a 1 piece driveshaft.
Lenght of the shaft is dependent of the type and style of transmission. (TH350/Th400, and short or long tail) I can tell you that a short tail TH350 will need about a 56" center to center drive shaft. Easiest way to tell is measure. The input shaft should be 6" as far as I know.

What I am trying to figure out is what donor truck I can use a drive shaft from to convert my 71 to a one piece. I'm installaing a 700r4 so I have overdrive. Some one said he used one from a 82 c/10 SWB. . . direct fit .. but a little longer is ok... Its easier to shorten it then make it longer ...
Can everyone with a 73-87 SWB list what they have:
Example:
85 GMC SWB / Small Block 305 / th350 6" tail / 56" drive shaft

My 84 long bed stock had a th350c with one piece driveshaft. The th350c had the 9in tailshaft, and the driveshaft is 70in center u-joint to center u-joint. Not sure off hand what the spline count for the 700r4s are and I think there was two different ones also? I think the th350 splines are 28 and the 700r4s had 26 and 28.
