I think My tranny broke down?
Yesterday I left my house to go to work and my truck made a loud pop and would no longer drive. It will not move when I put it in any gear. This tranny is old and I knew it would happen sooner or later. Today A guy at a transmission shop told me that it might be my rear end. He said that if the drive shaft spins when I push it , it would be the Tranny. And If I push it and it doesn't spin then it's the rear end. Has any on ever heard of this or what? Any help would be appreciated! Jon

Have some one look under the truck, and put it in gear, while you hold the brakes. If your rear end let go, the driveshaft will be turning. If your transmission quit, the driveshaft won't be turning.
I have to agree with the transmission guy. It sounds like your busted something in the rear end. Maybe you got lucky, and it's only the spider gears...
