Does anyone have any tricks for removing the steering arm off a 4wd.it went smooth until time to remove the arm itself and i couldnt get those three washers off it started raining on me so i quit for tonight it looked as though the washers were snap rings for safety but i looked in the service manual and it didnt even mention them it just said to replace the nuts anyones help would be apreciated THANKS DAVE

Those washers are a real B!)$h to get off. They are tappered. You could try a hammer and tap upwards to loosed them. It's been a while since I've messed with them...

I bought some good penetrating oil today so i think ill soakem awhile

The conicle washers can be a pain but nothing a BFH won't cure. I was a little sceptacle when my mechanic buddy showed me how to do it but worked like a champ. Get a good size hammer, like a mini sledge, and give a couple of good hits to the side of the arm in the area of the washers. This will break the washers loose and the arm will lift right off. Don't be shy! You won't hurt anything unless you miss! Good luck.
