I'm in the process of wiring my switches and alarm for the new 68. I thought the ashtray would be a good place to hide my switches and relays out of site.

The relays will be taken back off and remounted once the ashtray is in place and I am ready to finish wiring in the alarm.

I used pin switches with a 17/64's base diameter so they are small enough to be hidden unless you know where they are. I think it's lookin pretty clean so far.

Sweet job.

I hid the bypass switch in my late model in my ac ducts near the vent. Just had to use a pen to reach in and activate it.

Thanks guys, It'll be going in next weekend. I found out today that I have two big assignments being handed out Friday that have to be completed by Tuesday, so no work on the truck this weekend. I'm a bit bummed, but it's ok it'll get done sooner or later.

Just remember the younger punks will open consoles and pull ashtrays looking for loose change. Even some of the older punks do the same in car washes.

thats a good idea, I always liked hiding switches and glass breakage sensors and what not in inconspiquous places

By the time you break the window and lean in and cut your stomach and chest reaching for those switches, I'll be behind you with a Glock and a Mag Lite, whatcha gonna do then? I can do yours for you Darryl, I do need that A/c stuff, wink wink. My truck is lowered 4 1/2", 6". It was done with springs and spindles up front, and the rear with drop springs.

Yeah, not a GM, but I love it. 1969 GMC 32,000 - fix, drive, relax, fix... 2019 BMW R1250 GSA - Yahoooooooo 1979 Honda GL 1000 - retro touring at its best. Past: '05 Sierra 4x4 - Had 270,000 KM and running well when it was written-off by a stop sign runner. '94 F-150 from the "F word" company. I'll admit it...good truck. Sold what was left of it for $800 to a guy who came to pick it up at 11:00 PM with cash in hand. Hmm. '79 Sierra Grande (Black) organ donor - perfect rebuildable 4-bolt 350 and a good TH350. '76 Sierra Grande (Orange) - hate isn't too strong a word. Kid who bought it turned it into a hot rod. '68 C-10 R.I.P. - Dad's old truck...too far gone to resurrect. '59 C-50 - with hoist. Truck is gone, wife isn't. Nuff said.
