Question for LS swap guys.
How close are your heads to your firewall and did you modify your firewall? I'm mocking everything up in my parts truck and they are so so close. I'm thinking about not using the stock transmission location but I don't want to get into reinventing the wheel. Pics of what you have and how they fit would be awesome. Thanks.

Re: Question for LS swap guys.
Who's mounts are you using? We use the stock perches and the Dirty Dingo mounts. It allows you to move the engine forward.

Re: Question for LS swap guys.
That looks a lot further back than most. Have you looked through the LS swap section? Lots of pictures in there.

Re: Question for LS swap guys.
I would look at putting the stock engine stands in, and using the Dirty Dingo mounts that allow the flexibility you need to move forward.

Re: Question for LS swap guys.
I have ict billet mounts with the factory stands and original style sbc motor mounts. They were like 30 bucks. They put the engine in the factory position and also have some adjustability. I have plenty of room between the firewall and heads

Re: Question for LS swap guys.
I have stock Vette mounts on there right now. I could move it wherever I wanted but I have it bolted to the stock transmission in it's stock location. I have to make a trans mount anyway because I'm swapping a 4 speed in it too so I won't be using the stock trans mount. I was just doing it this way figuring the stock trans location would be a good starting point.

Re: Question for LS swap guys.
Probably not worth a thread on it's own...
but does anybody know where to get the mounts for a 66 C20 that go from the frame to the cross member from? Mine looks to have been doctored for a 250 inline six for some reason and now won't line up with the V8. The drivers side looks fine but somebody has clearly modified the passenger side one. |

Re: Question for LS swap guys.
There is actually a whole LS swap section that has probably all the answers, but that's just where I would look. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...play.php?f=206

Re: Question for LS swap guys.
It sounds like your brackets may be for the 292 I6. The passenger side is different from the drivers side. I do not know of anyone reproducing the original '63-'66 230/250 I6/V8 and '67-'72 230/250 I6 engine mount brackets. You might try looking here on the forum in the '60-'66 classifieds.

Sorry I didn't read where you said that previously, we are not condescending here.

I may just have to repair mine. It looks as if I bent it out at the bottom it would fit as they line up fore and aft. Just has a 10mm gap between the bracket and the engine mount. I'll have to get busy with the grinder, vice and welder me thinks. https://imgur.com/TOfudno Last edited by dmulally; 05-03-2018 at 04:37 PM. |

Re: Question for LS swap guys.
That is an engine mount bracket for a small block in a '67-'72. They are designed to install in the forward location. That is why they are not long enough to be used in the rear location as is needed in the '63-'66 trucks.

Any advice of the best way out of this pickle? Or should I just modify to suit? I'm in rural New Zealand so it's always tricky getting parts. Thanks for your help though. |

Re: Question for LS swap guys.
The Early Classic mounts are very close to the C20 mounts and allow use of the lower AC position.
https://www.earlyclassic.com/node/1355 I was in the same situation, wanted to retain the stock 5.3 AC compressor and with enough research, that's the answer I came up with. You can see it in Hart Rod's SuperBurb build. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=200387
