Drag Strip Times

I ran my 71 short fleet with a homemade zz4 with 1.6 ratio roller rockers and vortec heads and a turbo 350 with small stall and a 3.08 gear and no posi this weekend and I was very impressed. I can't wait to see what the posi and 3.73 gears do to the E.T.

My best pass was a 2.08 60ft on cheater slicks
9.128 1/8th mile
14.39 1/4 mile

Post some times and spec so I can see how it stacks up.

Thanks

Those are some killer times for a truck with 3.08 gears!

I haven't taken mine to the track yet....but i would expect a low 15/high 14 1/4 mile time. Except there are only two 1/4 mile tracks in MO, lol. Looks like i may break down and buy a G-tech off Ebay....even if it makes me kinda like a ricer kid, lol

Big Jim
Too Bad you are so far away I have a s&w cage kit for our trucks
I bought it for my all out race truck but decided to build a round tube chrome moly chassis.

cochino12
I am running a 650 double pumper. The vortec heads are a little better than the zz4 aluminum heads and it may come with 1.5 rockers and I have 1.6.

Thanks for the compliments

Tuned the carb last night and even with a passenger I improved the 1/4 mile times. My best pass was 14.311 @ 93.27 mph. I didn't get the gears and unit installed this week but theirs always next week.
I was plesantly surprised to find two 67's unloading off the trailer when I arrived at the track. One was a nice looking 67 with a simular setup to mine . He had lower rear gears and radials which I new wouldn't work. We tried letting them down to 20 psi but it still spun. On the last run of the night he borowed some sticky tire and we had a good run. He went like a 9.45 to my 9.27 he hooked that pass and I spun a little but I still came out on top.
The other guy had a 7.40 eighthmile truck on the bottle.
I out ran a 92 vette and a 72 nova. I ran a cobra mustang that was a little quicker but I treed him and out ran him eighth mile but he came around me in the 1/4.

Can't wait till I get the gears and Posi installed

You aren't kidding there....i drove an '86 model with 46k miles, TPI 350 and 700R4. It was a dog...i floored it expecting to get slammed in the seat, but i wasn't. Keep in mind that i drove it when i was freshly 16 and everythign seemed fast. My '72 could have whipped it.

BTW, i'm getting a g-tech for x-mas. Can't wait....i'm mainly going to use it for tuning though, since they have a reputation for being consitent.

Is that the kind of et improvement I should get when I get my gears in? I am running 14.31 @ 93 with very little tire spin but a 3.08 open diff. I am hope I can drop a couple tenths eighth mile to get the truck in the high 8's.

you can go here.. http://www.prestage.com/Car+Math/default.aspx

and play with the calculators...it gives you rear wheel HP...its pretty accurate...my 67 LWB weighs 3700lbs. You should be in the 13s with the MPH you have all ready...gears and traction wont change your mph to much..but will help your ET
