Borgeson Shaft install question
So i recently ordered and am ready to install a new borgeson steering shaft with U Joint type connections... all fit in the proper locations fine and i know i have to cut the shaft down to the proper length...
My question for those that have done this install before is did you have to cut off the nipple on the steering box that sticks out past the splines? I have attached a picture with said nipple in a red box... Borgeson tech said cut it off... but he didnt seem too sure about that... Thanks

Re: Borgeson Shaft install question
How does "cut if off" apply to the warranty?

Re: Borgeson Shaft install question
I did this on my 57 (on 88 full size blazer frame) and didn’t have to cut anything but the shaft to length.

Re: Borgeson Shaft install question
Not sure what you mean by warranty?

Re: Borgeson Shaft install question
That nipple is the torsion shaft part of the spool valve. You should be able to see where it's pinned to the input shaft.
Cutting it? I don't see it hurting much but I wonder why saginaw gear left it hanging out like they did.

Re: Borgeson Shaft install question
Was wondering the same... one of the reasons i was hesitant to cut it...Figured someone else had installed these and just wondered what they had done of if it was any interference?

Re: Borgeson Shaft install question
I used Flaming River u-joints on mine and I didn't have to cut it. I recently did the same thing (conversion removing rag joint) on my 94 K1500 using a Jeep steering shaft and didn't have to cut either. So I think most u-joints will clear the nub.
