1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton lower control arms
I need to replace my lower control arm on my 67 c10 1/2 ton, can anyone tell me the difference between the the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton lower control arms? I found a control arm at the local scrap yard, the truck it came off didn't have a vin or any spindles/axles, so I couldn't tell if it was a 3/4 ton. it looks almost identical as my 1/2 ton arm just the steering stop is a bit different. Also the ball joint out of the 1/2 ton can be pressed into the scrap yard control arm by hand. The size, width and length is the same.

Re: 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton lower control arms
so i just went out and did some measuring of the ball joint hole the original hole size is 1.975" and the new one is 1.985" it is just a little bit bigger, would the hole be alot bigger for the 3/4 ton?
I did read that the steering stops are a bit different for the 70 and up control arms. hopefully it is just that the control arms are a bit worn out and the moog problem solver ball joint will press in there a bit better. i will have to go to the parts store tomorrow and get a new ball joint and see if it works |

Re: 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton lower control arms
so i measured a lower ball joint from a 3/4ton c20 and the size was 2.304" , it looks like it is a 1/2 control arm just need to get a new ball joint and hopefully it will fit in better than the old one.

Re: 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton lower control arms
When I converted my 70 GMC 2500 to 1/2 ton I just used 1/2 ton parts on my existing 3/4 ton arms.
