Hey Guys

My 80 has a factory A/C that was originally R12 Freon now 134 the A/C compressor is a Sanden. I read that running a blue orifice tube will make the system cool better. The condenser is designed for R12 and the smaller orifice in the blue .067 compared to the OEM GM white tube is .072 will hold the Freon in the condenser longer allowing it to drop the coolant temp better. System currently runs 45 degrees at the vent.

Anyone ever tried this?

I've never heard that one before. Did you convert the trucks ac to r134? Did you notice a difference? When i converted my truck all i changed was the freon and oil. There was no noticeable drop in performance on mine

Over on the AC forums at ackits.com, the blue orifice tube is discussed and recommended frequently on systems that have been converted from 12 to 134. I know the system in my CC dually works well enough to make it uncomfortably cold even in Phoenix.

That being said, if you are getting 45 at the vents, I wouldn't open the system just to change the tube.

Is the Ford blue tube a true
"drop in" replacement. Otherwise, are the dimensions exactly the same as the white OEM Chevy tube, except for the orifice size?

If you're getting 45°F at the vents consistently you're done. Don't worry about it.
