RideTech Lower Cross Shaft Hole Alignment
So I am trying to button up the front suspension and came across a problem. The lower arms have 2 sets of holes. Instructions say to use the 9-1/2 center holes. While I was measuring, I checked to make sure they are centered on the shaft. Turns out they are not. They are 1/8” off set. The instructions do not mention anything about this. Any ideas? Figured this happens on a Sunday.

I don't know the official answer if there is one. If not I would install it so you get more caster.

Re: RideTech Upper Cross Shaft Hole Alignment
Just talked to Ridetech. They said the holes should be offset towards the rear. My understanding is this would reduce the caster, moving the lower control arm back in relation to the upper. This seems backwards of what these trucks like. Don't they like more caster, moving the lower control arm forward in relation to the upper?
EDIT: I'm an idiot and not thinking clearly this Monday morning. Offsetting the holes towards the rear of the car will move the lower arm forward, this giving positive caster which is more gooder. I guess I was trying to think about this too hard. Last edited by beaterku; 06-25-2018 at 12:01 PM. |

Re: RideTech Upper Cross Shaft Hole Alignment
Pete,
If Ridetech gave instructions I would follow them. The caster angle was designed into your parts. I don't know what caster their design achieves, but my Hotchkis arms have plenty caster and truck seems to like it a lot! Russ
