Tilt Bed Floor
Working on my tilt bed. Thinking about using gas struts but need to figure out the weight to use the right shocks. Will be adding wood and bed strips so it looks stock

it looks really nice. its gonna be fairly heavy (25#) once you add the wood I'm sure. I'm planning on doing something along this to mine but I'm not sure if I want the whole section to lift. been searching google for other options of what other people have done.

Hard to just guess at.... mounting location can change the poundage of the needed cylinders...the closer to the hinge point the stronger they'll need to be...

That looks great. I want to do something like this on my 66. I saw where someone did something similar to this but used air shocks instead of gas struts, so it had no problem holding the weight. The only problem is it did not lift very high.

I did some checking and it appears electric (12V DC) linear actuators may be the way to go. Come in all sizes (lengths up to 30") and can lift up to 250lbs lift capacity. Run off a single toggle switch for up or down. Best part is they are cheap...Ebay, Amazon, Dakota digital and others.

I have a tilt bed in my '66, but its the rear 1/2 only. I run a pair of 35lb gas struts. If I were running air ride, I would just tap the tank and run Bimba cylinders.
