anybody had any good experiences painting leaf springs and with what product

yes I would like new ones !

for now just make them look not so rusty

I painted mine with chassis frame paint.

Disassembled them and painted and then replaced the hardware and bushings.

Check out my build thread. Think they turned out OK.

how is it holding up
no cracks or pealing ?
the flexing makes me nervous
I don't want it to really end up looking bad after I paint them .

The flexing is less of an issue than the where the individual leafs contact each other. They rub the paint away and then bleed rust over the paint on the edges. You can disassemble the springs and coat them with the grease used on semi truck fifth wheel plates. ( found at truck stops in small bags). This is a water proof extreme pressure grease developed for slow moving surfaces. An other option would be gaiters for you springs. I have had pretty good luck with POR15 but the rust stains will reoccur.

I'm no expert but MasterSeries primer might be the most durable on the market. It's HARD, though sandable and high build too. Haven't used their top coat black, I'm sure it's great. If sprayed then a good respirator required. Better to brush IMO, the primer is thick.

I just googled it
is not cheap is it !
what is your experience with it compared to a por15 or ?

I think the pricing is close to the same.

I have painted two frames, a motor cycle frame and other miscellaneous items and it is very durable. I used the complete system with rust inhibitor, gray sealer and black top coat and applied it by spraying. They recommend thinning it about 10% to get it to spray out.

As far as the leaf springs, there has been no peeling or cracking and I have around 2700 miles on the truck now.

Never used POR15. Master Series existed before it, and I've heard it's better. Cheaper too, I think. Just keep it out of your lungs

I read somewhere that you dont want to paint in between the individual leaves due to the paint rubbing off and causing the leaf pack center bolt to become loose... but you know the internet is never wrong, at least that's what Abraham Lincoln said....

Here are my springs after 2700 Miles on them with the Master Series coating applied. I’d say that there is no issue with peeling paint.

Phosphate coated from factory?
