I made a thing! Actually, I made 8 things!

I have two radio delete plates and only one clip so I decided to make some clips myself. I was brainstorming with a neighbor who designs store fronts and we came up with a way to make them.

Do I need them? No.

Did I want them? Yes!

Here is the kicker...COST without labor was about $50.00 to make 8 pieces!

Bug all they want, they are not for sale...Trading for a nice 67-72 C10 I might think about it!

But the cost to manufacture a small run was unobtainable for sales...NOT counting labor they were too expensive to sell! Labor cost would be calculated and I was never good at calculating time. I have copied a lot of products for my own use but never sell them.

I once made an O gauge rail cleaning car that was $80.00 to purchase. At that time my milling machine time was billed out at about $100.00 per hour. I spent about two hours milling plus design time and welding! I recently found all the machined parts to make two more cars but never welded them together!

I just like to see that I can make things myself. Unfortunately, I never remember to take pictures of the process to post online.

those are nice but I have always wondered why people don't just use lower side trim clips cut down to fit and nuts and washers on the back. Just because it clips into the dash doesn't mean that's the only way to hold it there.

That's cool, I have the same issue, we all do. These trucks were most likely fabbed up with skills that are going the way of the dodo bird.

I have made stuff for my truck, and people ask me why did you do that? Because I Can!

Dig It!

I feel I need to prove it to myself that I can still make or copy something.

Nicely done! Hard to figure the value or worth of satisfaction. I do things like that all the time too and nobody will ever know.

Please share!

If they are 67-72 truck related post them here. Hopefully the way back machine will archive this entire site for all future generations of truck enthusiasts.
