Found a couple oddities

Crawling under my new to me 69 C/10 today, I spotted an element style oil filter (motor stampings are WK for 69-350/4) cables that almost look factory, wrapping both motor mounts and do these front shocks look original, or was that swirl just a style? Thanks.....

Re: Found a couple oddities

The oil canister is original style.

Shocks look like original. I guess if the dealer installed new ones at some point in the truck's life, they could still be spiral. I think that that is just a GM thing, not certain of that, though.

The cables on the motor mounts are due to a recall by GM. The '65 - '69 vehicles were recalled due to the engine rotating up on acceleration, pulling the throttle wide open. Instead of new locking motor mounts, they issued cable sets. The cables were not original equipment.

So the element style oil filter wasn't gone by 1968? I suppose a stuck WOT would indeed suck. Thanks a bunch for the knowledge!

It was on passenger cars, but it was not on trucks. At least in 69. My Camaro had a spin on filter and my 69 short stepper has an element type. I believe trucks got the spin on in 70. My Jimmy had it for sure in 72.

No prob! I think that it may have been one of those things where enough engines were produced that the old style blocks were in good supply.

I had the same "resistor" looking thing. It was for the dual batteries, not factory. Overflow bottle you already guessed it.

The resistor is for towing.
