Bendix Stromberg carb replacement
Hi all,
I have a 1966 GMC 3/4 ton pickup with 305 V6 big block. The Stromberg carb has had it and I’d like to replace but having tough time finding a 2bbl carb that will fit to current intake manifold. I like the Holley 2bbl #7448 350 CFM. The current four bolt pattern on manifold is 3 1/4 X 1 7/8. I tried to find an adapter to accept the Holley carb but had no luck. Any advice? Should I have an adapter machined to fit current manifold or replace the manifold in order to mate with Holley carb? Thx Tjmac23 |

Re: Bendix Stromberg carb replacement
Welcome TJMac!
Here is link from the Jolly page showing how its basically done. http://6066gmcguy.com/holley.html You will need this style adapter and if you wish, open up the base to match the adapter. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mrg-1937mrg Most have used the Holley 500 and good info here as well; https://6066gmcclub.com/index.php?

Re: Bendix Stromberg carb replacement
Much help ...Thank you. Would you recommend Holley 350 CFM or 500? I’m not looking for speed obviously but just want better engine performance.

Re: Bendix Stromberg carb replacement
Most of the others have reported better results with the 500.

Re: Bendix Stromberg carb replacement
500 Holley works great on my 305 V6 GMC, highly recommend doing the HEI conversion, the info is on Jolly's site.
