Who has a kill switch in their truck?

What are you trying to do? Kill engine while it runs away on you? Secret ignition kill to make sure nobody can start it without knowing where this switch is?

Move to the country living in a big city must increase the chance of them being stolen by a lot , Not many trucks stolen around here it's too likely you'd be shot or eaten by the dogs ,People in the country don't have little dogs as pets out here they have to work for a living and bark at anything that comes close to the house or driveway . If their not good watch dogs we sell them to the city dwellers

Yes, thanks for the nice dog in the city! When our doorbell rings, the dog goes into a tizzy and starts wiggling her docked tail so fast it's a blur, and runs for the front door and squeals with delight. She can't wait for the person to come in and pet her.

I had one on my '66. Hidden switch that grounds the ignition coil. Years ago I was concerned someone would steal it out of a parking lot. Short bed fleetside big window custom cab with original 2 tone green and white paint. Wish I'd never sold it.

Here is what I did with mine.Bought a 3 way toggle switch (center is off) a new wiper switch knob. Had to enlarge hole on knob.Down is power on, center is off and if some one happen to twist it just spins.Was just a GM plug in hole before. Wired to HEI dizzy.

What is the wiring like to the distributor? Do you short the tachometer terminal to ground, or do you interrupt the voltage to the power terminal?

I installed a propane system on mine. So I can run gasoline or propane. I have a toggle switch that goes from one to the other and there is a spot on the switch that the truck won't get fuel from either and the truck will not run. So in a way it's a built in kill switch.

The best kill switch would be one that if not switched on it would still allow the truck to be started, but then would sputter and die after 5 to 10 seconds, try again same thing happens, and then would not start at all the 3rd and subsequent attempts. On the 4th attempt, perhaps a hefty amperage relay could short to ground the passenger fender-mounted battery terminal and burn up the fusible link, resulting in smelly smoke coming out from under the hood. Combined with locking the hood to prevent troubleshooting, all that would spoil the mood of a casual thief.

I wonder if anybody has made a modified steering column that locks into position under the hood instead of inside the cab. Turning the steering wheel all the way to one side and then locking the column under a locked hood using an electric actuator would deter. It's probably not possible to make them commercially and sell them, because any modifications at all to steering would result in the maker getting sued successfully if the steering lock activated during driving, and you can't put in enough double safety mechanisms.

I have heard clubs are no deterrent at all, because the thief just saws through the steering wheel in a few seconds and bends the wheel it to remove the club. Steering wheel is easily replaceable.

The Ignition is my first choice to disable (Distributor).
Like some have said above fuel system is a good choice depending on your type of fuel system.
Making a shield over the solenoid would deter a quick(Hotwire & screwdriver bump start).
I think one of the biggest things that would slow them down is a hood latch cable like the one below. Key is to mount it in a not so normal place.
I had a set up on my 63 impala and most people could not open the hood (Quickly anyway).

I have four switches under dash. In plain site. . Each has 3 positions

Switch one. Horn goes off in up and down position. Middle position is off
Next switch brings power in and to 3rd switch which then goes out to HEI.
4th switch is tied to neutral safety switch.
So basically you have a combination lock of switches.

Also added crimestopper alarm system with door actuators for under $80

It’s located on a small shelf under the dash near the steering column and it turns off the ignition. In other words, the engine cranks but won’t start. I also have a battery cut off that works with a FOB. Its turns off everything electrical which is handy when I leave the lights on.

Its Sad that we have to go to these measures now days.It use to be so nice.if you drive a really trashy looking truck most people will stay away from it a few will look at it but the thief's feel like it will brake down on me.An if they are caught stealing a peace of crap.They will get a beat down

I use aircraft wire to dangle down from hood and lock it to the pass side sway bar mount.
And a switch on the dizzy wire.
Camera at night with motion light and loaded shotgun for the Crack heads invading Niagara.

Breaks and work hours.
1) If your home is robbed and the thief cannot complete the job in six hours, the thief has 24 hours to return and complete the burglary. Homeowner may not disturb any items in the home until the 24 hour grace period has lapsed.
2) Pre-made meals must be kept in the ice box for lunch breaks. Frozen dinners do not count.
3) All drinks snacks and juices MUST be organic.

Failure to comply with statues will result in prosecution of unlawful taxpayer.

Oh, opps I left one out. If robber shoots you and misses, he get's and alibi fire. You have to stand still like a dope and them shoot you!

My "kill" system is comprised of the following:

A mini video camera mounted facing the drivers seat
A cell system based alert that captures the thief's face, calls my cell and uploads the video to the cloud
The ignition system is locked out as is the starting system
Fuel system is shut off (electric pump)
Door locks lock and power windows lock out so they cant be put down
Digital map display shows countdown to detonation of knock out gas inside cabin
If all this fails and the truck is somehow started and driven, a digital sign under the tailgate displays a "Help Me, I have been kidnapped!" warning plus GPS tracking is enabled and trucks position down to 3 feet is sent to my phone.

Anyone want to try and get into my workshop ?
