'68 C10 Motor Mount Perch ??
All,
I'm finally moving again and getting ready for exhaust install. My initial plan was to run ceramic coated center dump manifolds. Well ordered them from summit, put on back order, kept delaying delivery from mfr., etc. So I decided to go a different route, ordered a ceramic tubular header and got them right away. Long story short I could have waited now but I'm at this point. So I started installing and they dont fit or hit the motor mount perch. It didnt look like I'd have to trim that much away to make them work so I wasnt to concerned but it kept getting more and more. The attached pic is close but still not there so more grinding needed. 2nd issue is the 90 degree bend is going to be tight to miss the center cross member, am I again going down a road that I'll regret with the rest of exhaust? Is this too much removal? Should I repair/replace and go with center dumps? Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

I wouldn't trust it with that much metal removed. If you had to cut that much I'm not sure the headers would clear even with '69-'71 big block mounts. (they dip down in that area) I don't think the center dumps will clear the front cross member. LockDoc

Thanks guys!
I'm with ya LocDoc, I was thinking it was too much. I'll start looking for a new perch, not looking forward to replacing that but its my fault! Grumpy, did you fab those tight bends or did you purchase them? Thanks again!

No , I don't remember what thread the pic came from but it takes a 4" bend to fab them ,any good muffler shop should be able to bend a set ,I'm going to the one I use on everything this week to have a short set like those pictured so I can run that engine ,A local father son shop and they are TOP notch , The son is so good he leaves work everyday as clean as he was when he got there in the morning and they are very busy every day ,I use them because he uses a tape measure to fit the entire system and can weld upside down better than I can on a table , The best shop I've ever used .
