I am with orange on this. Some NASCAR is cool, but when it is the only thing on the Speed channel is no cool. the play CLASSIC NASCAR all the time. It would be nice to have more build ups and rally car racing with IMO is way cooler the NASCAR.

Granted, it may be on "too much", and I do get a little steamed when Inside NASCAR is on instead of American Muscle Car, or My Classic Car, but you've also got to look at the other side of it...as one of, if not the largest, and fastest growing spectator sport in the US, it is very easy to see why there is a lot of NASCAR on air.

When's the last time you saw someone driving down the road with a Shaquille O'Neal sticker in their back window? It's hard to drive home and not see the Earnhardt 3, or a 24, 8, 17, 20, 18, etc bumper sticker, or number in the window of the guy in front of you.

This weekends race is purely accedemic anyhow, since the championship was won last week. Maybe we will see some grudge right hand turns since it really doesn't matter. Might be good publisity for next year.

As for the speed channel, they are targeting a market segment that has money to spend. I myself can't get enough of the old races from yesteryear. It was real racing, not the watered down B.S. we have to endure today.

This is the last season for all American racing, next year the rice grinders will have a truck in supertruck, and the following season will have rice in regular Nascar. I may stop being a fan because of it, the older I get, the less tolerant to change I become.

I never understood how one can derive pleasure from watching cars drive around a track. BORING.

Nascar is a joke IMO. I used to be an avid fan but the last few years its all whimperin and cryin. Like a bunch of kids. Last years champ did it in fo the fans anyway. The marketing has turned it more into WWNASCAR. The way they fudge the rules for some and not others. If your going to have rules abide by em dammit. Its all about the profit margin. Just not the same anymore. I also remmember when the cars were really cars, you could go buy one just like it at the dealership down the street. Now its a roll cage and a shell, whats stock about it?

My wife won't miss it, she lives for it. She doesn't know push from restrictor plate. The fan base has gotten very wide. Have you ever checked for grease under the nails of todays fan, HAH! Not with those loafers and Polo shirts. Same thing as a spitshine biker, don't like em'.

Boy, some of you guys sure have some issued with NASCAR.

I myself will miss it. I enjoy spending part of my Sundays watching NASCAR & football, with my fiance, who like both, as much as I do.

BtnkBndt, so what if the fan base has gotten larger...that is good for the sport. I myself have no problem seeing hot chicks in the stands without grease under their fingernails...quite honestly, I am not looking at their fingernails!

No matter whare you go, there will be fans/enthuisast(sp?) into something when they themselves don't actually participate or do that "something". I like watching football, but I don't play it...do you frown on me now because of that?

Just my .02.

Lol, that about sums it up in a nutshell. Talladaga used to be fun to go to. See more bare breasts and drink more beer than the whole year combined. Now the police are cracking down because of the new yuppy fans are complaining.

Racing is racing. I like all racing to a point. Watching Nascar cars run around in a circle gets boring, but then it's the same for IRL, and CART too. I prefer F1, Rally, and SCCA racing. You know, more than just turning left. It makes it more of a drivers race. I wish NASCAR and IRL would have more road course races. Would make it much more interesting. I never watch a complete NASCAR race anyway, I fall sleep after about 20 minutes and wake up for the end. They show endless replays of all the crashes, so not like I'm missing anything. It will be nice to see some foreign competition in NASCAR. Might make them work a little harder. Kinda wish BMW or Mercedes would get into NASCAR to make them work harder.

I am also not a NASCAR fan. It is too boring to watch on TV. I'm sure actually going to the speedway would be really cool though.

Drag racing is a far better sport. If is see drag racing on ESPN i will usually watch it.

Just My Opinion

I too am a fan of NASCAR and all motorsport of some sort. But, I can't sit and watch a 3 hour race, I have better things to do. What makes me a fan is being involved. I use my truck as a push truck at the local track and work on my friend Super Late Model. NASCAR has several levels and watching the top level may not be your game, but try taking in a race at a track near you. I bet you would like circle track racing better there then ever on TV.

Bustedup, I'm with you on the sitting and doing nothing for three hours ! I have the TV in the garage and I work on the trucks and watch it that way. mostly listening I get out to the Watsonville speed way once or twice a year. nothing like getting dirt flung into your face by the cars as the fly by on the dirt track !

I can't understand...for those of you who like NHRA better than NASCAR, explain this to me.

In drag racing...all they do is race for a 1/4 mile (or 1/8 mile) over and over...with interviews and commentary in between. In NASCAR they race in circles (usually) over and over with commentary during that....there isn't much difference...so quit using this "boring" excuse for NASCAR just cause you like drag racing more.

IMO, (which isn't worth much ) Nothing beats rally.

Just something about someone doing 80 mph down a curvy gravel road sideways around every corner, makes me wish I still had my celica!
