Picked up another project 61 apache short - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Couldn’t pass this one up I’ll maybe build it up for the wife to drive im almost finished with my 65 for now lol . Here a few pics. Truck has a super solid cab has hardly any rust it was a southern Alberta truck so not a lot of salt on the roads.

Few more pics . Rear cab mounts have very little rust fronts are solid an toe boards are solid. Really rare to find one like this up here . I’m not a huge fan of the knee knocker doors an wrap around windshield but luv these hoods .

Pretty much wrapped this project up last week I started build in jan or Feb. Built this one for the wife to rip around in. Basically did the same thing as my 65 build, got rid off all the cab rust and preserved all the outer sheet metal and paint as possible.
Added ps,pb, and a ls engine. We got one quick rip in it before the snow came

Lol thanks guys. Ya I documented everything I did on this truck as I went, I didn’t want to post too many pics. She’s rot free no corners were cut and everything is new and updated from end to end. This was was a pleasure to work on compared to my 65.
Going to take a break from these trucks too much time and $$ involved lol but it is an addiction and great to see the finished product when done

Thanks! Yes can’t beat these ls engines luv them! The one I put in this 61 was kind of a crap shoot bought engine and tranny off local classifieds. Guy said was a 5.3 / 4l60e 220ish km . $600 I loaded it up cleaned it up dropped the oil and when we hooked up the tuner to it said 4.8 I’m like whatever still be great for the wife to rip around in . Fired it up thing purrs like a new engine, oil pressure is high and not a tick or weird sound from the valve train . I said to the the wife let’s just put a little turbo right here for someone extra ponies she’s like no no I don’t want that lol. It goes pretty good though the rear gears are 3:90 and the 4l60e is geAred good . I don’t know how long that old 61 rear end will last though heard they can’t take much power .
I’m going to boost my 65 over the winter it should be fun
