There should be a rule here that you have to let the seller know if you are no longer interested, otherwise its a waste of time. If I don't hear from them in a week I move on.

I am glad you asked this question because I was getting ready to. I posted an item for sale and someone wanted it and I sent a PM and responed to the post that he could have it but I have never heard anything in almost a week. I have another person ready to buy but I wanted to give the first guy a fair shot at it (I know some peoples schedules don't allow them to check the board daily). I told the second guy I would sell to him if I did not here from the first guy by Monday. I think that would be a fair enough amount of time for the first guy to get back to me don't you.

You can also to message tracking with PM's It will tell you if they have read the message or not, it will speed things up in deciding to move on or not.

I have had a board member ask a question and with my reply, it took a few days to play the tag game with each other. Another member demanded the item when I explained that I was waiting on the first person. Member two was told to bite me. I will decide who and when my items are sold.
I have also had a member jump on the thread and say they want it. Then I have to wait to be sure.
My suggestion is this and this is how I now do my transactions. If I have a question, I ask and ask to be notified if I am first. I then make a decision as quickly as possible and reply to the person. If I say I will take it, I notify the person when payment is sent so that they can have an idea of the time frame to receive payment. If it does not arrive I would hope they contact me for a trace. I try to give all info in my conformation also. MO #, my address and board name if through email.
Please send your board name if you send emails. It helps.

Night,

My $0.02 -> I think communication is the key, and that goes for sellers and buyers. Posting a more descriptive reply with; level of interest, serious purchaser/ just looking around, times you can be reached, when you expect to get back to the board and answer, setting a deadline to hear back from someone. These things, and dozens of other little things to consider adding to a post, help create a fair selling and buying situation for each interested member.

I realize it doesn’t always happen, but we can all hope to deal with honest, considerate people. Especially when what we all have in common, we all feel so passionate about.

I think nightmares talking about me, I thought my truck was heading that way next week but turns out it's going to Michigan. Sorry for the delay on answering and thanks for the extra pictures! It's a great roof and will hopefully keep a cab from the scrape pile for somebody.

Its no fun waiting on a reply, I had a board member say he wanted this truck I have, said he had to check his schedule, that was over 2 weeks ago and I've never heard back from him, I've pm'd him alot too. BUYERS NEED TO LET THE SELLERS KNOW IF YOU DON'T WANT PARTS, DON'T LEAVE THEM HANGING!!! It happens alot unfortunately. Good luck, Randy

nightmare , were you the one selling the cab roof?
I take it that Mothertruckers is interested in it. Is there a market for these? I just cut a cab below the back window and across the firewall. All dash and pillars are intact. It is an air cab and had a headliner and cargo light. What might it be worth?

yep, that was me. i had cut right above the dash though. as far as there being a market for that, i'm not sure. i know that the areas around the rain gutters do become rusty, and that, according to what i've seen, there aren't any aftermarket patch panels for the outside of the roof or the top part of the door jam. what it might be worth? i couldn't begin to tell ya. from what i remember, there is a patch panel for the inside part of the roof, where the sunvisors and mirror goes, but i'm not sure as to what the price would be on that part alone. the rain gutters themselves cost around $120 or so for the set, but since there aren't any patch panels for them to mount to if that part is rusted through, someone could use the whole top part of the cab. ultimately though, it would be up to you to decide what it would be worth.

The First One

Hi all... I'm new to the board but did spend 25 years in the automoble business. I've heard every promise and story twice in my years. My philosophy is when you sell something the first one with the money takes the item. In this day & age you can , send money orders cashiers checks etc overnite literally around the world. So I guess the bottom line is if you havent received any money in a week then they aren't buying it. Basically I'm saying...Money Talks and Bullsh.. Walks"
