Cool Going to buy a truck...

Well this is the first time for me even posting in this section, but it looks like I will be doing a lot more of it from now on!

A guy I work with is selling one of his projects to me for dirt cheap. Keep in mind that I have not actually bought it yet, even though I am 95% sure that I will, and I have only seen a picture of it. I'm going to look at it next week after work sometime. The truck is a 65 chevy with a 77 4x4 1/2 ton frame underneath and also 3/4 ton axles, either 4.10/4.11 gears. The cab is in good shape along with the fleetside bed and front clip. He has a lot of the work already done to it, but not all of it and it is still in several pieces. He mentioned that he is going to throw in a tach dash also. It also comes with a new Rancho 4" suspension lift kit, with leaf springs up front and blocks in the back. 37" Goodyear Wrangler tires with approx. 80% tread left. No motor, because it currently has a 427, built into a 482, which will not come with the truck. It does have a 4 speed transmission. He painted the firewall an orange color, and has the rest of the paint if I wanted to paint the whole truck that color. From what I saw in the picture, it is a pretty clean truck. He has a pretty nice shop that he has it sitting in (in another town).

The main things that I need to do to it would be to find/build and engine for it, paint it, and put it together. I am thinking that a built 350 or 400 SB would go nice in it. There's no way I can afford a BB, anyways it would get me into too much trouble! :p

What do you guys think?

P.S. I don't have any pics on my computer and I don't have a digital camera. When I buy it and move it into my dad's shop I'll borrow a friends digital camera or something and post pics. I should have it by next weekend at the latest. At least I hope!

Thumbs up

Well it's official, I went to look at the truck last night. I'm gonna buy it! Not sure when exactly I am going to pick it up, should be before Thanksgiving. The owner has to take the current engine out and round up all of the parts for it. I can't wait to get it in my dad's shop and start working on it!!

sounds cool, plus you get all the good things, like disc brakes, and open knuckles and possibly a passenger side flat top on that front 44

It looks like we are going to pick it up this Saturday (29th) if nothing comes up. I'll take some pics and have them scanned so I can post them...

What kind of deal did you get on it? Sounds like some good upgrades have already been done.
