Long or short bed?
Looking at a 72 c10 that's missing the spid sticker. Is there a way to tell if long or short bed by the VIN number or vin tag?

Re: Long or short bed?
Not to my knowledge with the VIN.
Looks like the VIN plate has been removed by the rivets in the photo. Check the frame VIN to see if it matches the plate. Smitty

Re: Long or short bed?
What is it about the rivets that make you think the vin has been removed? To me it looks pretty normal, but im no expert in the area.

Re: Long or short bed?
Google Rosette Rivets and look at them.

Re: Long or short bed?
Looks like two different type of rivets in the photo. I would verify the frame VIN.

Re: Long or short bed?
If there's anything original left on the truck, you can tell by the model number in chalk on the firewall or at the back of the frame.
07 = shortbed 09 = longbed 04 = stepside 34 = fleetside I'm assuming you're looking at a shortbed you think might be a longbed? Check the frame and bed for cut marks. The bed could be a real shortbed, or a new aftermarket one if no cut/weld lines are visible. It could also be 14 trucks into 1.

Re: Long or short bed?
As noted, that cab looks to have had the VIN removed at some point. Whether it was to paint behind or something intentional... who knows.

Re: Long or short bed?
You would think if the vin tag was removed for painting purposes then the cab vent would have also been removed.

Re: Long or short bed?
That does look like a pretty crappy paint job around the vent, doesn't it?
