Gmc chevy Cadillac k10 k20 one piece at a time your thoughts please

Bought this truck has gmc frame with v6 mounts gmc grille, horn button, tailgate.2 vin tags one for gmc 64 1/2 k1000 and 65 chevy c20. Power train from 1970 Cadillac 472 turbo 400 rockwell divorce t case dana 44 closed knuckle front eaton rear 3/4 ton axles. On board air tank and hose. Previous owner pulled v6 and farm installed compressor to run air. And installed Cadillac 472. Plans were to put gmc body and v6 from a 62 that I have but kinda like the Cadillac 472 power. Probably will leave it and make reliable as brakes are not good and has been sitting for a while.

I would be careful about talking about an extra VIN tag since that is illegal and in Idaho can get your vehicle confiscated.

pull the body off clean up and drop dads v6 in make it prettty like your 63 then put out his body on the frame I would love to see that, and would love to help make it happen

Progress so far. Found all springs and hangers shot. Leaking t221 not cost effective to fix. Found replacement divorced np205 from international pickup. Was going to use Eaton axle swapping out the 4.57 gears to 4.10 with no spin but pinion pilot bearing toast. Using 79 k20 14 bolt and Dana 44 with front tuff country 6 inch lift springs from 72 Chevy and rear 56 springs and shackle flip from 77 c10 heavy half

Rear of frame por 15 and top coat with John Deere medium black. Had to use square body frame supports on front crossmember as left side was rusted out and held spring hangers better. Using Ord greaseable bushings in the Rear

The progress looks good. I would have never started on it where I live. That GMC tag clearly removed and put on a chevy cab with a vin tag that you don't have a title for would never fly.

Ditch that VIN that doesnot match that frame

As far as I can tell none of the gmc frames have the vin on them, I have 3 and can't find any so I will just keep the titled vin tag for now.

That is correct. The GMC frames do not have VIN numbers on them.

I would do what you have to to get a title for the cab and the untouched vin tag. What you have now is illegal in so many ways both on a state and federal level.

i have the title for the chevy cab , i will try to see if i can title the gmc vin tag

You need to title the chevy cab. That cab with the original vin tag attached is the vehicle you have no matter the rest of the mods. That GMC vin tag should never see the light of day.

I would suggest reading post #5 again. I do know what I am talking about. My late father inlaw was with ISP for many years and told me about what can happen. If you are not careful ISP may pay you a visit and it won't be good.
