Does anyone know if you can still get the blower motor for the Air Conditioned (four-season) trucks or is just the blower motor for the trucks with a heater available? According to the service manual, there are 2 different types.......the AC blower motor has a 50% higher blower speed than the regular one for just a tuck with the heater. If so, where can you get the higher speed one? Anyone know? Thanks for any info!

You should be able to get one at the auto parts store....i picked one up for about $20 last year for my non-AC pickup.

If i remember correctly, blower motors are the same for most GM products until like the mid-ninties.....not totally sure on that, but i think i remember hearing it on the board.

Well, the reason for my question is because the service manual specifically states 2 different type motors available and I'd swear I've read of others complaining about their blower motors not being as powerful as their past motors.

There was a blower motor style chainge between 72 and late 70's.

1971 Service manual lists following info:---
Blower motor ----
Heater only-- 6.25 amps; 2550 to 2950 RPM
Heater w/air cond. -- 16.5 amps; 3700 RPM (min)
There is a considerable difference in air output..... so by all means go with the blower motor designed for aircondioning...........Jim

We stock both, we don't have a selection when you add it to cart to specify A/C or Non-A/C on the blower motor because when you reach check-out we require you to fill in a form stating if truck is A/C or Non-A/C, etc.... and without this info filled in the shopping cart will not accept your order.

I think the blower motors for A/C equipped truck had a rubber drain hose that attached to the bottom of the motor. Has anyone else seen this? The non-A/C blower motors don't have the provision for this drain hose.

What brand name(s) do they go by Paul? I have one by Electrohome (12 Volts DC , 1/8 HP, I think) that I think is out of a Bluebird bus. I was considering using it for powering a small cutting wheel but realize I would need a transformer/rectifier setup. Decided that a small AC (thats alternating current not air conditioning) motor would work better for that anyway.

gone bad...... the hose you refer to is a hose supplying air from the heater/air plenum back to the motor ... hose is used for cooling purposes as the blower motor does draw considerable amps and will get quite warm !!

Yes they will interchange, however I have heard that using an A/C motor on a Non-A/C truck will couse problems with the switch and relay. I don't know if it's true or not maybe sombody else has heard something about this.

Why use the non air motors when the air motors are available. Both are reproductions, and are good ones. I have istalled both motors in our shop and am extreemly happy with the fit. I do have them in stock also. You can also buy one from GM, however they have an updated version that requires you to purchase a spacer also, because the squirrel cage is longer.
