Cheyenne Super, yes the inner rocker is the flat piece going straight down from the door opening. the front and rear cab supports are bolted to the inner rocker.
hope that helps....eb [This message has been edited by ebfabman (edited March 30, 2002).] |

Did the new inner rockers come with threaded provisions for the bolts from the cab support and inner rocker. Also where do you get your repair sheet metal?

C Super, you have to drill the holes for the bolts(still don't know why they can't be welded)
The person I got mine from was very expensive. He was also rude and didn't seem to appreciate my business($500 worth)but he wasn't a board member(my mistake) You can get a look at them from the goodmark website; http://www.goodmarkindustries.com/HomePage.html I would ask some venders who are board members, shop around and get the best price. I think they all come from the same place. They will also not be a perfect fit I had to do some hammer and dolly work to get mine to fit descent. This is a lot of work, but if done right I think this would be better than a seemingly "clean" cab, but it is a he!! of a lot of work. |

That's where I plan on getting most of my sheetmetal. I am however getting as much as possible from gmpartsdirect.com. That website is ran by Flow Chevrolet, which happens to be about a 45 min. drive from my house. They have a large assortment of nos parts. For the large item (doors hood bed sides tailgate and bed front) I will take a 4 day weekend and drive down to Lawrenville, GA and pickup the parts in person. This will save shipping damage and I will probably break even in shipping charges.

Wow that could be my cab Eb. You cut and grafted all of your peices almost exactly like I did mine. Guess I did it right. I bet you did it about 2000 times faster than I did mine though. Thanks for the Pix.

I have only finished the floor and supports on the pass side and have the cab corner trimmed and ready to weld. I will finish the rest of the cab up this spring and early summer. I got side tracked by a Toyota write off that I picked up for my wife mid winter and have been tinkering on it when I've had spare time. You can see truck pics on my Free Photo I under the name RayRees.

I don't pretend to be the body man Fabman is but I was glad to see his pics. I've just been working on my '67 rockers, floors, toe kicks, and corners the last week or so. I think I may have been doing it right. I also added a lot of extra sheet metal where I think GM skimped. I was particularly careful in the area where seat belts will be anchored. Mine was so rusted I couldn't tell so I had to wing it but if anything I erred on the side of extra strength for safety. I got my stuff from Goodmark - some was all right and some like the floor pans was pathetic. I had to do a lot of reshaping too.

Heres a few pics from when I did my inner rockers, supports, corners etc. last year.
Most of the material I used was 14 and 12 ga. sheet steel, fabbed it out as I went along. It worked out well! http://communities.msn.com/Alsplac/c...nw?albumlist=2 ------------------ Southpa 1970 GMC 1500 Custom Victoria, BC, Canada

I'll be doing mine soon. I hope it comes out that nice.
I was unable to find a replacement patch for the rear floor so I'll be making my own. ------------------ 63 Impala*66 Chevelle SS*69 Chevelle*69 C10 Stepside*71 Cheyenne 20*72 Chevelle Parts for sale: http://www.angelfire.com/trek/mr409/items4sale.html
