‘68 CST Sport Mirrors?
Trying to find/pick mirrors for my truck. It has had several aftermarket mirrors over the years, I have probably a half dozen holes in the side mirror area. I ordered the “typical” stick mirrors that seem to be the most popular, but the three mounting holes don’t line up with any existing holes. Question: did this year truck come with a sport style mirror? Typical reproduction companies have the 71-72 ones...but not sure if they will work hole-wise. trying to find something that will at least fit in existing holes, don’t want to add any more. There are two holes above the body line just below the side window.

Re: ‘68 CST Sport Mirrors?
Here is the right side location. There were these standard ones, RV Jrs, and West Coast Srs

Yes...those are the repop ones that I bought. None of the holes line up. I can install them but then I’d have even more holes. I’ll google RV JR to see if those might work. Maybe I will install some square body ones and cover all the holes.

Re: ‘68 CST Sport Mirrors?
Why not OEM mirrors like the holes were made for? All this because the repops are made wrong. Just get the right mirrors and fill the rest of the holes.

Re: ‘68 CST Sport Mirrors?
That’s what I’m trying to determine. What was the factory mirror? I don’t have the three holes for the mirror in the pic you posted. I don’t have holes for RV Jr or WC. I do have holes for what appeared to be a “sport” mirror. The doors and paint are original. Attached pic you can see holes above the body line, and four holes for the cheap mirrors put on by the PO.

Paint may not be original. I see grey or white in the chipped areas. None of those holes look original. Pull the door panel and look for filled original holes.

Re: ‘68 CST Sport Mirrors?
You have more holes in that door than you think. What I showed and explained to you is the mirror that came on all '68 C10s that didn't get RV Jrs or WC Srs. It's the standard mirror for 67-70. What people call sport mirrors are actually the standard mirror for 71/72. My picture shows where to start looking for the original holes on the passenger side, unless you see holes up in the door frames for either of the other two.
Let's go back to square one. Does you truck have a SPID? If so, does it list any mirrors? If not, your truck came with the stick mirrors.

Sport mirrors would have a set of three holes like in this thread. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=179279 LockDoc

Re: ‘68 CST Sport Mirrors?
That’s the answer I was looking for. SPID does not show any mirrors. I will check the backside as suggested. SPID does show door edge guards, which are present and do not show any overspray. I’m pretty certain this is original paint on an original door...this is a one owner (before me) AZ truck with 80,000 miles. We’ll see what the insides show.
Thanks! |

If you check in the bottom of the door when you get the door panel off you may find the backer plates for the original mirrors. They were usually just removed from the outside and the backer plate fell to the bottom of the door..... LockDoc
