My search came up showing that big block trucks came with high hump cab. Does this mean if I want to put a big block in a low hump truck it wont work without cutting out the low hump? Or can I still shoe horn it in there? thanks...... jerry

YOU CAN SHOEHORN A BIG BLOCK WITH A T-400 IN A 67-72 TRUCK WITH A LOW HUMP, BUT IT'LL BE TOUCHING THE HUMP. A FEW MEMBERS WILL TELL YOU "OH SURE LOTSA ROOM" WELL MAYBE IT'LL FIT WITH A T-350, (I'VE NEVER TRIED)BUT G.M. HAS NEVER MADE A BIG BLOCK WITH A T-350 BEHIND IT, OR PUT A BIG BLOCK IN ONE OF THESE TRUCKS WITH A LOW HUMP.

Thanks ....I have a th400 already that I thought I might use, but was also considering finding a 700r4. Are they any bigger outside dimension than the 400?? thanks.....jerry

Every factory BB truck I have seen had the high hump. I had a 70' 1/2 ton that I put a 350/400 turbo in and I didn't have trouble with the low hump hitting the trans. I have a buddy that junked out a 72' GMC that was a 307/3-speed manual, 1/2 ton truck but It had the high hump.

I just ran into this problem this last week. I have a 454 with a t350 behind it. It did fit but it hits the floorboard. So I cut out the low hump and put in a high hump. Now no more problems.

Mine was a original 350/t350 truck....low hump.....it now has a 502 and T400....no problem.

I JUST PUT IN A 402 WITH A 400TH WITH A LOW HUMP, NO PROBLEM! YOU MUST USE THE CORRECT TOWERS TO MAKE IT FIT CORRECTLY.........IRA

i have a th400 with the low hump in the 67, its a real snug fit, maybe 3/8s of an inch gap, but ISNT touching..sure tight though, if it were any closer id concider a high hump

I have a 402 with a TH-350 and I have adequate room in my 72 LWB Cheyenne (small hump). I do have the correct 72 BB towers and motor mounts.

I HAVE RESTORED THIS TRUCK FROM TOP TO BOTTOM NEW CAB MOUNT & ALL. MAYBE THE PROBLEM WITH EVERYONES TRANNY HITTING IS WORE OUT CAB BUSHINGS. I CAN PUT MY HAND ALL THE WAY AROUND THE 400TH TRANNY. IF YOU USE THE WRONG TOWERS IT WILL MAKE THE FRONT OF THE MOTOR BE UP NOT LEVEL WHICH WILL CAUSE THE TRANNY TO HIT THE FLOOR. I USED THE 72 TOWERS & MOTOR MOUNTS WHICH ARE FLAT. MINE WORKED GREAT.........IRA
