progress on composite bed pic
so i got all the rotten wood out and new composite boards just laid in the bed right now. i pretty sure im gonna use the rails to clamp them down but my wife like the look of it without the rails. what do you guys think?

The rails are obviously more "correct" looking, so most guys here are probably going to lean that way. The "no rails" version looks more "living room" to me, so i'm not surprised that your wife prefers that.
Which do you prefer? I think the rails are not only there to hold the wood down, but also to protect the wood from being scratched and gouged, so if you're going to be hauling anything in the back of the truck it would make sense to keep the rails.

It does look cleaner without the hold down strips but how would you secure the boards other than bolts down through the boards? That would look bad.

ya, im gonna go with the rails. but i need to order a new set plus a few extra rails because the boards im using are only 5-1/2" wide so i dont have enough of them as of right now. does anybody know where i can order them individually? another thing, the rails i remober dont have square holes, they have knurled roumd holes in most locations. some are square though. is that normal?
