Desirable Trucks
What are in ya'll's opinion the most desirable 2 drive wheel trucks? I have a 72 Special Camper Custom Deluxe with a ton of options. Are the Longhorns the most desirable? Just curious what ya'll like the best. I know some are really purists and love the plain jane 6 cylinder daily drivers.

Re: Desirable Trucks
Most desirable 2wd....hands down would be swb big block trucks, especially high optioned CST’s, Cheyenne’s, and Cheyenne Super’s.

Any highly optioned K20/25 is top dog in my list...well any K20/25 in general.

Re: Desirable Trucks
I have a thing for the highly optioned trucks. And if I may say GMC.
Reason being most around here at that time were not highly optioned and a treat to see even then. The GMC thing comes from the fact we had several dealers then and those where just as common. |

Re: Desirable Trucks
71/72 C10 swb Cheyenne Super big block with buckets. The rest is gravy. That brings the most $$$ anyway when all the paperwork is there. Having said that, if I actually HAD one, I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a 71/72 K20.
Longhorns are an acquired taste, folks either seem to love em or view them as an anomaly (I fall into the first group). A 72 Custom Deluxe Custom Camper (note, Camper Specials are a 73+ thing, even if your SPID happens to say "Special Camper" as some do - Z81 is technically a "Custom Camper" between 65 and 72). Show us your SPID when you get a chance. Are any of your options YG6,7, or 8? A lot of C20 Custom Deluxes seemed to be the recipient of the ol plaid groupon as it brought a grouping of upgrades, including the plaid seat, for a group package price. Just curious - I've had one also, sold it recently, it was a good one, kinda miss it! Anyway, share some pics when you can. A 72 C20 Custom Camper is indeed a desirable 2WD truck. |

Re: Desirable Trucks
As 71blksuper4x4 said, in terms of 2WD, short box, big block, lots of options, original, lots of paperwork/documentation, original paint. I'm trying to recreate such a truck with my Cheyenne Super by adding a 402. Buckets are not in the plan unless I stumble across a set.

Re: Desirable Trucks
The rarest of the bunch is going to be a factory 2wd Blazer. People who are looking for them are willing to pay a premium.

Re: Desirable Trucks
Yes good point, indeed rare, but it’s a rather small crowd that is looking for 2WD Blazers. It’s a bit of a cult thing - kinda like we of the Custom Camper crowd.

Re: Desirable Trucks
JMHO..... Survivors, unmolested rust free (or as close as possible), original paint.
To me, makes no difference if a 6 banger w/a 3 OTT to full option big block. To me, makes no difference if fleet or step side. I prefer GMC over a Chevy but if a good one came along, I'd have no problem buying either. Have fun...don t. |

Re: Desirable Trucks
I think if you were to find an unmolested, high option '71/'72 Blazer or GMC Jimmy...I think that would be a seriously rare and sought after vehicle.
They were much fewer produced than the pickups and like most 4wd vehicles the ones that were out there were often beat to death. As well, I think the days of the swb trucks being high value is slowing down. The reason being the new endless trend of easily shortening trucks from the lwb to the swb has caused the value and the uniqueness of the swb trucks to drop. Given how many people have done it and it seems to get easier by the day....I don't think people will pay as much for them anymore...why bother? You can buy a really nice truck and over a weekend or two...get your own swb. All good Coley

Re: Desirable Trucks
The most desirable one is the one that makes you feel warm inside. It could be a rust bucket or a pro touring monster, but its what makes you desire it that makes it the most desirable...

Re: Desirable Trucks
I think the unmolested originals , especially if they are highly optioned with the options like the A/C intact and the buckets/console still in it, are the most desireable and usually sell fairly quickly if priced properly..

Mine. Everything is there, and works (but the AC, which needs a little help) and it was free.

-NOT- 'dumb question' !!
Because what ever floats your boat may not do it for others .
I see so many younger guys who listen to others then purchase and are never really satisfied .

Re: Desirable Trucks
Some of the most desirable to me would be finding one of the many trucks I owned 20-30 years ago, especially if they were in the same condition as when I sold them and if I could buy them back for what i sold them for! 20/20 hindsight! But I gotta agree with Special-K, I find them all desirable.

Re: Desirable Trucks
Personally, I think my truck is the most desirable. Nothing gets me going like cruising along Ocean Parkway from Jones Beach Field 1 to Oak Beach. Although the road is concrete with joints every 30 feet, it is still a great cruise!
Whatever floats your boat! Bill
