Mystery connector

While prepping to replace the alternator pigtail on my 87 R10 4.3 I found a male 2-pin connector taped to the outside of the harness cover, at about the middle of the passenger side valve cover. Smallish 16-18 ga wires, one tan w/blk stripe, the other dark brown; long, square black plastic connector cover. Anyone have some idea what it might have hooked to? Thanks.
