ALBERTA MEMBERS:buying,building&shipping

I am still searching Canada/USA for the perfect truck and have a few questions.

As an Albertan/Canadian I want to know how and where to source the best body panels/parts etc

Who in Alberta is the best for paint, body work and price? Have you taken your vehicle into the USA for paint or body?

Which method and who is the best for shipping parts or whole vehicles?

Scott's Super Trucks in Penhold is a good source of ALL Chev truck parts, and he is willing to order it in for you if its something he doesn't have in stock.

CAPS (Canadian Auto Parts Supply) in Edmonton up by Mayfield is decently priced too, less selection.

Best way to get a good paint job is just to "know a guy". Someone who isn't necessarily the cheapest but who won't let you down or rip you off.

Rick Rilling has sources. And he might know a good local paint guy. He’s in Sprucegrove.

I have had great luck buying parts from Scott's Super Trucks. He has years of experience and is knowledgeable about the quality of parts.

It is hard to find body shops that will paint older vehicles. I had my 59 GMC restored and painted in Wetaskiwin at Historic Restorations. They do full restorations or they will do smaller projects. I believe they will even do the paint work and they give you back the parts to reassemble yourself. https://www.facebook.com/Historicrestorations1/

I use Scotts when I can. I let him take the hit and hassle of bringing items up from the States.
Sometimes his timelines are too long for me, in that case I order directly from the supplier and have things shipped to SweetGrass Montana. There is a package depot there. Make weekend trip out of things.

I'm pretty sure the (2) biggest in Canada are:
Bill's Truck Shop in Oshawa (Courtice), Ontario
( www.billstruckshop.com )
and
Scott's Super Trucks, Alberta.

...I've dealt with both and particularly Bill in Ontario for years and he is very good, very knowledgeable and has some very good parts and a good system for shipping, etc....well worth the call.
His tech advice on whatever you buy is very good.
He has a very big variety of parts, new, OEM, second tier, and used original so you can pick up something to suit your budget relative to your need.

Again, well worth checking out

...my two bits.

For body & paint check out Deluxe Autoworks Edmonton. Small operation, knows these trucks well. Mark is very detail oriented.

I 100% agree with Coley and have use both suppliers. Classic Heartbeat in Olympia Washington is great as well.

As “Already Gone” says. I have used all 3 that he has mentioned with good success. Scott’s the one time was a little pre- occupied I thought but a good buddy of mine uses him all the time.

Re: ALBERTA MEMBERS:buying,building&shipping

I just started to use SCott's. I have had great success with Wes at classic heartbeat and get classic industries to ship to Canada. I also take a drive to the border to get stuff. LMC as well.

Re: ALBERTA MEMBERS:buying,building&shipping

Just to chime in, I find Scott’s great. That being said, I tend to ship stuff to the states and bring home being I am 45 minutes from the border. As for used parts, in the past certain things from Scott have been expensive so I will go to wrecking yards in the states for shift knobs, hub caps, etc. He does have a good selection of used parts especially doors last time I was there. I have yet to see any of these trucks in wrecking yards in Alberta, At least in southern Alberta. I have dealt with bills, but haven’t ordered anything. Usually big parts which they have for good price, but too expensive to ship here. Bills seem very good at sourcing IMO. My trucks are far from perfect however, so take my opinion with a grain of salt
