Both trucks of mine leak a little from the rear diff covers and I'm wanting to get aftermarket finned aluminum. Sure I can't straighten out the old ones and apply copious amounts of silicone and be done with it, but not worth the effort.
My 70 Blazer is the easy no brainier, large capacity cover, but my 2wd 67 is in question with this type of finned cover, it seems to protrude further out then stock. My question is it seems the track bar would hit. I called suppliers and of course their staff can only read off a computer screen just as I am doing the same, given the same information I've already read, seems to be the norm nowadays?
Any suggestions as to types and brands?

Most all require relocating the trac bar.

Well ok, that sucks. The squeeze wouldn't be worth the juice to me

I agree. It's a close fit with all original set-up, so nothing deeper will work w/o other alterations

The Moser aluminum girdle cover I have on my 71 fit's no problem.

Can you post pictures when you get a chance?
I contemplated this type since it's flat where the bearing supports are, seemed like the only type that would work.

OK, looking at the Moser on Summit, and read reviews and one guy had a 72 with it installed, the track bar looks to be in stock location?

stock track bar with the Moser cover definitely fits, for 12 bolt apps.
aftermarket adjustable track bars, won't fit unless you get the type with the bend in them. I had a stock bar in my '71 with the Moser cover....then when I ordered the porterbuilt adjustable bar, I opted for the one with the 'z' bend in it that is made to clear the aftermarket covers.

That's the exact cover I have, and yea I have stock rear suspension, for the moment. Good point on the aftermarket bars too!! I have my bed off my truck at the moment, I'll snap a picture this afternoon when I get home.

Only complaint was some of the bolts were too long and had to be cut, did you also experience this biketopia?

I put mine on probably close to ten years ago. I don't remember having to though. I'll dig through some old pic of when I built it and see if I had any mention of it.

so why are you replacing the cover? just because it was damaged. frankly I would just put another sheet metal on on there. everything else is expensive and over kill

I almost bought the Moser but was told if it's lowered it wouldn't work without relocating the trac bar.

Replacements seem cheap and tinny, so while I'm at it, might as well upgrade. My late model truck has these Mag-hytec units, I like em'

Mine is lowered 4" in the rear so I did two things to get all kinds of clearance. First, I used a stack of SAE 5/8" washers to move the bar away as much as a full nut would allow, 4 or 5 washers. Secondly, I bent the bar up to clear the thick center portion of the cover. Bending the bar served two purposes on the lowered rear, it centers the rear end as well as clears the girdle cover...I'll dig some pics up...

Never had it hit, I used to load it down with a 4 wheeler and coolers and drive it like the 20 year old I was never had it hit.

I have the same cover on my 12 bolt in my 1972 C15. Lowered 4" in rear and the stock bar fits on mine with no interference as well.
