What is this part for my 68 C20?
I think it may be a brace or something around the battery area but it has been long enough I can't remember

Drivers side front fender brace I think. At least that's what it looks like to me.

Just the drivers side only was used to support the inner federwell where the steering shaft runs through.

Re: What is this part for my 68 C20?
Thanks for all the great help guys. I have a new question.
Can anybody provide pics of how the rear fender gravel guards attach exactly. I have them bolted in temporarily but something doesn't seem right. Here is a couple pics so you can see what I am talking about. |

Is this for real, because if it is, I just installed mine upside down last weekend.

Re: What is this part for my 68 C20?
Right, Wrong, or indifferent...I installed these pieces on my 72 and the tab that the red arrow is pointing at was tucked in above the lower lip of the bed side and the rolled edge at the yellow arrow was back behind the bedside as well.
I other words...You can not see the splash guard from looking straight at the bedside from the side. I'm not saying that mine are right because I have converted from steel to wood and they were a bit snug to install all tucked up in there. And, maybe it's a year specific thing, IDK...Just saying mine are different.

Re: What is this part for my 68 C20?
Wow, thanks for turning the pics! The spot welded upper portions are outside not tucked in. I ordered an assembly manual today so I'm going to wait and see if it shows where it goes for sure.

Re: What is this part for my 68 C20?
Well, after looking the fender brace over carefully there are witness marks that show the long flange pointing down towards the floor. I went ahead and installed it the way it was from the factory in case anybody was wondering.
