Productive day

Went to the scrap yard and picked up a dual tank bed, solid floor, front panel and rear panel, it'll need sides though. I had the old one off and the new one on in 2 hours, not bad for an old guy. Also, how well does the AMD sheet metal fit? I need fenders, bedsides and a hood. Thanks!

Re: Productive day

Red and white seems to have been a popular color combo, this one came from a GMC, it now has a chevy gate on it. How do you like the brown / textured deck paint? Man, that is tough to get off, but I/m making some progress, actually happy I'm replacing everything except the cab.

Re: Productive day

Finding a solid anything here in Michigan.... means someone brought it here. And beds brought here from the west start rusting instantly.

She's getting there!

Re: Productive day

It was a really decent, 2 owner K30 right before I bought it, then some azz clowns stole it and painted it brown and hid it in the woods. Luckily the patrol spotted it from the air and returned it to the guy I bought it from, he was heart broken and sold it to me. I should have all the metal bought in the next few months. Anyone have a nice set of OEM dog dish caps for sale?

Re: Productive day

here is my trailer . its surface rust were you see rust from scraped off paint or trim molding holes welded shut . and someone boaned the gas door area for some reason . .. its solid on the backside .

k30 dog dish caps are hard to get unless you pay up . the rear is the same 3/4 - 1ton . the front tho is bigger hole for the hub on a dana 60 to go threw it .

Re: Productive day

Your bed is in better shape than the one I just bought! I don't mind paying up for the correct dog dish, if they're nice. I'll have to figure the price on sand blasting / painting my original rims plus the cost of the caps, maybe better off going to an after market wheel.

Re: Productive day

I so want a bed/trailer to match our truck. Maybe next year when the truck is done and I get bored.

here ya go . look like a gm combo they never did in 8 lug . but they did in 5 and 6 lug .

aftermarket d-window rims black only last i knew . strip and paint white .

88-00 style drw rear hub covers . pop 2 emblems out and cut hole size of emblem was . these now fit over dana 60 hubs and rear hubs no problems .

1 set of external thread conversion nuts with the 9/16 thread for older trucks . then the plastic nut covers to hold on the center caps you just modifyed .

bam 1 set of oem looking never made rim combo .

last pic shows gm version . 8 windows for 5 or 6 lug . my combo has 10 windows for 8 lug . and to be even more correct get chrome center caps if you want . but for a work truck i prefer the black caps .

not much tow's and hauls and tracks like a pickup trailer . cut the frame just as it flattens out under the cab/firewall section . then do this for tongue .

1st pic was 1st trailer i made with what i had . never failed me .

2nd and 3rd pic new version of my tongue design with adjustable coupler head .

and when i build a trailer it gets a 2 5/16 ball so i only need 1 for all my stuff .

I'm guessing they would, but really don't know, I'll post a picture
this weekend of my original wheels and we can compare the center area.

That's the best looking tongue setup I've ever seen on a pickup bed trailer! Nice work!
