89 GMC Steering Column
I am working on my 89 GMC Burb and before I starting this steering Column apart again does anyone have an exploded view of all parting and there placement, so that I can make sure I'm reinstalling them correctly.

Re: 89 GMC Steering Column
I couldn't find one when I did it. Take a lot of pictures all the way through the rebuild, before you take them apart. My reference pics really helped! Especially the slide locking mechanism and spring location.
I did use some guide as reference, I'll see if I can find.

Re: 89 GMC Steering Column
if you have to pull signal switch ,take pic of wire sequence, and pull each wire out of harness plug, make it so much easier pulling and putting back thru column, just went thru mine after a theft thieves ,broke plastic housing and selector easy to start after, along with breaking 1\4 glass to access. Like mentioned just take pics as you go.

Re: 89 GMC Steering Column
They are easy to do but it can be a PIA if you've never did it.
This is best basic guide I ever came across. http://www.fieros.de/en/articles/steering.html I know it's Fiero but pretty much basically same Saginaw column. That other link is better for complete rebuild. |
