Antanea mounting

I was tieing up loose ends on the general today and noticed the antanea was a little crooked. I pulled and attempted to straighten it but the design sucks and every one I have ever installed sucked. Would be nice if they could build one that spans the entire hole instead of the rinky dink system I have always seen. Anybody have any tricks beside modifications to the Cowell, maybe a special washer I can slip inside of Cowell or has anyone modified the antanea?,thanks.

Re: Antanea mounting

Modified mine, removed from cowl. Mid 80's strait stick antenna hidden in the cab corner behind the seat. Works fine, this was before paint so had the option of filling the buggered hole and moved elsewhere...You might try making the washer, if you can't find 1 to fit....Find a body washer with same hole size, cut 1/4" slice to go over wire.

Re: Antanea mounting

How is your antenna hidden? I would like to try this. My 70C10 antenna get lots of wacks at the farm.

Does it work OK away from city on road?

Thanks
