3spd Related Question
I have this transmission hump with transfer case hole-only and it is dead center in the hump, side to side. It's been years since I've had a K/5, but I'm thinking this must be from one that was a 3spd w/Dana 20 transfer case. I have only had a '71 with 3spd. Would a '69 Blazer with 3spd have a Rockwell 221? or were those a year ahead of trucks as well?
I thought I had a picture of it, but I'll take one and post it up this evening.

Re: 3spd Related Question
Tim
Here is my 72 K5. It has 3ott with (I think) Dana 20 transfer. I know it is not a 205, way too small for that. Richard

Re: 3spd Related Question
You're too fast, Richard. Thanks! I'm am late getting out the dor. Yours is different. In the meantime, I have another question to add in. Was the Dana 20 the only lightweight transfer case used behind the 3spd in K/5s? Ok two, did GM use the Dana 300 too?
I have a 3spd/221 combo I believe is '67 truck, but could be wrong. It has a smaller diameter drive shaft with no dbl cardan joint. I have pictures of that and a 3spd/Dana 20 (I have assumed, but will look for ID) I'll post this evening. Damn rain, I'm heading out to work on Sunday...for a friend who is serving me breakfast (2nd one today). I've had my share of weekdays off. Sucks, though. Finally get good weather and have to give it to others. Mid-70s blue skies. Oh well, I'll get a good view of that and the muntains from his roof!

Re: 3spd Related Question
My 70 K5 has the 4spd Dana 20 combo. Never seen or heard of a Blazer with the Rockwell 221, even for 69. My 69 K2500 had it but we all know it was the last year for it. Dana 300 was never used.
My shift location looks pretty centered and in line with the 4spd, imagine it not there. |

Re: 3spd Related Question
Based on Mike's picture I would say it is a year thing. Even though his is 4spd the output of the transmission should still be in the same place. My "guess" would be that only the shifter handle might be different on the two? causing the hole to be centered vs offset?

Re: 3spd Related Question
Thanks for the great insight. I got home late, so no pictures. My hunch was it was for Dana 20 case. I didn't know of 4spd/Dana20s. I had a '71 short bed that was 3pd/NP205. I have a 3spd/Dana 20 combo, minus shifter, I can put with this cover now.
