Re: 1967 GMC utility
I love it. But to be accurate, that's not a utility bed. Those are tool bins that were sold to mount on a Fenderside in place of the fenders and steps. Utility beds are complete beds that replace the pickup bed or used on cab & chassis. I've been hoping to find a low-profile utility bed or the bedside bins myself for quite a while now. Keep them for sure... so cool. (or sell them to me

When you say “It’s got the six in it...” do you mean the big block V6? If so, keep it! They are cool!

Re: 1967 GMC utility
The 5th wheel mount may be fabbed or from a supplier. Got pictures? My '72 K2500 has the 5th wheel mount, but no platter. There is a hoist mounted against the passenger inner bedside... Wideside. I'm guessing mine was fabbed.

Re: 1967 GMC utility
Kinda hard to see in the picture but Looks like a 250 in-line 6 to me. (250 has the fuel pump forward of the engine mount. 292 has the fuel pump behind engine mount). Someone added HEI distributor.
Straight 6s are cool too. The GMC V6 was a 305.

Forgot to say welcome! This forum is a bunch of great folks willing to share a wealth of information.
Not sure but I would guess your transmission is a sm420. P.S. the search function at the top of the page will be your best friend. Just be sure to hit the 67-72chevytrucks.com button before you search

Re: 1967 GMC utility
Your trans should be a sm420. 1967 was the last year that trans was available. It has an extremely low 1st gear for getting a heavy load moving.

Re: 1967 GMC utility
I'm by no means an expert, but I remember reading on here that base GMC's came with a New Process NP435 4-speed, which is a Chrysler product. That's what's in my truck. I never understood why they put those in GMC's and made the Muncie's an option. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Re: 1967 GMC utility
Semis have used 5th wheels for many decades. Maybe it wasn't a factory option back then, but they could certainly be retrofitted to one of these trucks.
