AL not mine nos 8track is on auction site

( 253901104547 ) this is the item number, just posting for board members that have been searching for a nice one to add to their restoration, the price is right and it goes out at about 8 p.m. i have a junky one that is more in line with how my truck looks but this one looks super nice in the pictures. again it is not mine and i have no affilation with the seller and i didnt even look to see where it ships from, i did throw a minimum bid on it, just so if nobody bids we can keep this out there and easy to find. but i am hoping someone that has been looking for one will go ahead and outbid me. if i do end up with it it will go on a shelf until someone makes me an offer that covers the cost and the shipping , so please pass it on to anyone interested.

thanks for the tip but it doesn't really look like nos to me.. box, brackets, paperwork?

rusty screw heads, witness marks around mounting studs, dust, nicks on finish?

I agree it would look cool under a vintage dash but based on what's presented in the ad, I wouldn't trust it for much more than 'looks'

well thanks, i appreciate your candor and maybe your monitor has better resolution than my cell phone. but i kinda think somebody was impressed with it. the final sale price was $400.99 and i am kinda glad they outbid me on it. i would have been stuck with a hundred bucks in something that i wouldn't dare use. my old battlescarred 8 track is more in line with my truck. its kinda rough and haggard but i love it exactly that way. thanks for looking in though. have a good un !! I think you did good to pass.. auction frenzy only takes two to tango

for items that don't come up that often, 'interested' sometimes turns into 'gotta have it'

or, if they're interested, I have to have it..

or, shill bidders..

etc..

the one you have, albeit worn by you description, is more valuable to some folks due to your knowledge of it..

to me, this one just didn't look as advertised which screams 'warning' from the start..

unless I'm intimately aware of what it is without seller's input, I would pass..

based on seller's feedback, not necessarily experienced with nos gm parts..

I too have working 8-tracks back home, have a NIB Craig unit, box and all..

that 886 in the corner has a working 8-track in it

bigger question, who has 8-track cartridges left?? cheers!

The GM 8 track player is one of the rarest if not the most rare GM accessory for 67-72 trucks. The 67-72 GM CB might be the only item that is even more rare than this GM 8 track. A quick search on this forum should show anyone that. Some people really want to build a truck that is truly stock and has the absolute year correct accessories. I know I do.


You can compare the 8 track player on ebay that some here seem to think sold for "too much" to this one recently sold on these forums

So was $400 too much for the one on ebay? I don't think so. I know some guys here that have been collecting parts for quite a while may have 1 or 2 of these rare items. But for everyone else - they are crazy hard to find.

I highly doubt these and the CB units are specific to 67-72 trucks. You bought it at the parts counter and it could be installed in any GM car or truck.
