fuel filler eliminator, any tips?
Is there a kit or a patch panel?
What tank is typically used and where does it go? (*note that I will no longer have the spare OR need a huge capacity tank) Where does the fuel filler get relocated? Any drawbacks to doing the relocate? Thanks for any advice! ~JH |

Just to be sure. Are you wanting to remove the stock tank from inside the cab and replace it with an under bed tank or vice a versa? What style truck and year?

Just use the search engine in the upper right portion of your screen to search this forum for rear mounted gas tank installations.

It's all custom fab work if you're moving your tank outta the cab, so you put the filler door/neck where ever you want it.

I put the filler in the wheel well. Probably not an option for a 2wd or lowered truck, but for a 4x4 it seems to work ok.

Re: fuel filler eliminator, any tips?
One of my younger brothers put a 22 gallon fuel cell between the rear tires, tucked up under the bed. It was all the bigger he could go, since the 18" wide tires needed to keep traction behind the blown 383 stroker took up a lot of room. And a good place for weight when racing. He had excellent fabrication skills, and worked out a fill pipe that was accessed by opening up the left tail light, like on a '56 Chevy. The cab hole was welded up and ground smooth before painting.

Re: fuel filler eliminator, any tips?
I found this thread a while back. This is what I am planning on doing with my truck since it is already painted.

Re: fuel filler eliminator, any tips?
I did the Wrangler tank with S10 fuel sender. Put the filler through the bed into a cut down ammo can on the bedside. I think it looks pretty decent and it was cheap ($100 new tank, $30 new sender, $30 fuel lines/hoses, $8 junkyard Wrangler filler/tank straps, $8 ammo can, $10 angle bracket/hardware). The reason I went with this setup was the tank is baffled and the sender will hold a EP381 fuel pump when I swap to LS. Downfall is it is 15 gallons and slightly slow to fill due to the small Wrangler fill hose.
