Been driving my truck the last few weeks. Noticed the floorboards gets really hot. While that may be appreciated in the 2 months we have winter here in SC, the other 10 months makes it uncomfortable. Should I put down the heat deflection carpet? I’m concerned that even if I install ac, I’m still going to have hot feet.

Truck is staying rock steady at 180 on the temp gauge, so it’s not overheating. The 350 motor does seem to be mounted very deep towards the cab.

Do you have anything in the floor?...carpet or rubber mat?...you will need to put something under it if you dont have anything...there's a endless choice of options for heat...

I have carpet and some jute padding. I think the heater is circulating hot water. Can I clamp it off with no ill effect?

Your heater should have a shut off valve to stop the hot water circulating through the heater core.

A quick and easy solution is header wrap - it's inexpensive and effective. Just wrap your pipes where they pass under the floor.

If you want to go all-out I can highly recommend ceramic exhaust coating as a heat barrier.

If the heater shut off valve has been removed or bypassed for some reason (like leaking a simple and rather inexpensive fix is a Bronco F150 heater valve. Ebay item for the Ford part number and to serve as an example. https://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-E-F-SE...53.m1438.l2649

I wrapped the entire H pipe from the manifold flange to the mufflers. With current temps in the 40's it's hard to say whether or not wrap is effective.

Check your timing. You might not have enough timing and losing performance. This can cause your headers to run hotter and transfer heat to the floorboard.

That Ford valve looks exactly like the valve that came with my Vintage Air setup.

Late timing will cause excess exhaust heat.

You might think about fabbing some heat shields that stand off the bottom side of the floor over the exhaust in that area to see if it works.

Where would I find this shut off valve? I think this is my issue.

The shut off valve will be in one of the heater hoses or inside the heater itself.

If you have hot floorboards even after restricting coolant through the heater the problem might be heat from exhaust and engine compartment. Using insulation under the floormat helps a bunch but the steel floor will conduct heat throughout the cab during warmer months. I'd also recommend adding a heat shield.

heat shields, leave a standoff gap between the shield and the floor's underside. light guage aluminum is all you need, so easy to work with. if you don't wanna do the whole underside then at least do the area above the exhaust. look under any vehicle that is factory on the underside and you will see the exhust has heat shields above it the length of the cabin area.you may even be able to use something factory from a wreck if you find something the right size etc.
